The Altra Timp 6 is Altra’s second most popular model after the Lone Peak, and one that many hikers swear by. The Timp adds extra stack height to the midsole, resulting in a softer, more cushioned stride that helps reduce fatigue on long hikes. Altra’s signature FootShape™ fit helps prevent blisters and is a key reason why so many hikers choose the brand.
The latest Timp 6 model now features the long-awaited Vibram® Megagrip outsole, which has been highly anticipated in Altra shoes for years. Megagrip is a major upgrade for Nordic hikers, offering excellent traction on rock and loose, rugged terrain.
With zero drop and a foot-shaped fit, the Timp delivers a natural and balanced stride. It also includes a GaiterTrap™ attachment system, allowing gaiters to be securely fastened to the heel.

The Altra Timp 6 is a trail running shoe that combines excellent grip, durability, and comfort, whether you’re tackling technical mountain trails or soft forest terrain. The updated Vibram® Megagrip outsole delivers even better traction on both dry and wet surfaces, allowing you to move with confidence in demanding conditions.
The soft, rolled mesh upper (85% recycled RPET material) feels comfortable on the foot while enhancing breathability. An updated fit combined with a high-quality construction provides a secure yet comfortable feel right from the first step. Protective reinforcements increase durability without compromising the shoe’s natural flexibility.
The midsole features Altra EGO™ MAX midsole foam, offering soft, lightweight, and slightly responsive cushioning that keeps your stride smooth and energized even over longer distances. The plush 30 mm stack height ensures comfort on uneven terrain.
Altra’s signature FootShape™ fit allows your toes to splay naturally, improving balance and comfort, especially on ascents and descents. The 0 mm drop keeps your foot in a natural position and promotes a stable stride.
As an added feature, the GaiterTrap™ attachment system allows for easy use of gaiters without separate straps, helping keep debris out of your shoes.
