Gently rolling fell heaths, cloudberry-rich palsa mires, and lush river valleys characterize Finland’s largest wilderness area. Along the popular Sevettijärvi–Pulmanki Trail, hikers will find several open wilderness huts. Experienced trekkers can also choose their own routes across the wide, open fell ridges. The area is excellent for mountain biking, though the trails are unmarked and can be technically demanding in places. The proximity of the Arctic Ocean brings rapidly changing and unpredictable weather.
