Cumulus Basic Down Pants W’s
The Cumulus Basic Down Pants are ultra-lightweight insulated pants that offer an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio. These pants have become an indispensable part of our kit on virtually every hiking trip. Truly a unique product, they stand out as some of the lightest down pants available on the market. Weighing almost the same as regular thermal base layers, they provide exponentially more warmth.
Designed with a minimalist approach, these pants deliver exceptional insulation without compromising the ultralight nature of your backpack. Filled with high-quality, ethically sourced, hydrophobic goose down, they are the perfect choice for stationary activities such as camping or overnight stays in a tent. The ultralight Pertex® Quantum fabric ensures outstanding comfort, breathability, and a soft feel against your skin.
For those cold nights when your sleeping bag isn’t quite enough, the Cumulus Basic Down Pants are a better choice than a sleeping bag liner for extra warmth.

FAQ:
- Can these be worn directly against the skin?
Yes, absolutely. We wear them like this on every hike. They’re very comfortable against the skin! - Does the down compress overnight due to moisture?
Not really, just as your down sleeping bag doesn’t. They remain surprisingly lofty even after waking up sweaty. The down used is also hydrophobic. - Do they work for winter use despite not having side zippers?
Absolutely. By the time you need insulated pants in winter, you’re often in your tent, and boots are already off. They also enhance the warmth of a winter sleeping bag significantly, and the lack of zippers makes them more comfortable for sleeping. - What size should I choose?
We prefer sizing them slightly roomy to allow for insulating air inside. The waistband adjustment is highly adjustable and well-designed for a great fit.
