Gossamer Gear Gorilla 50 Ultralight Backpack

Gossamer Gear Gorilla 50 Ultralight Backpack is a versatile, framed, and durable 50-liter lightweight backpack, packed with functional features. The Gorilla features a closed aluminum frame that attaches to an anatomically designed, sturdy hip belt, allowing the backpack to move with your natural gait. Comfort is further enhanced by the Sitlight pad, which attaches to a sleeve, acting as both padding and additional stiffening, and of course, as a sit pad in camp and during breaks. The shoulder straps are comfortably soft.

The spacious hip belt pockets easily hold snacks needed during the day, and the side pockets can conveniently carry water bottles. There’s no need to take the Gorilla off your back while walking. The large front mesh pocket swallows larger gear, while the lid’s zippered pocket is perfect for smaller items. The Gorilla can also be stripped down to an ultralight version by removing the hip belt, frame, and Sitlight pad. In size M, the stripped-down Gorilla weighs only 462 grams!

The stated maximum load for the Gorilla is around 14 kg, but it’s most comfortable with loads under 12 kg. However, based on tests by Outdoor Gear Lab, the Gorilla is still very comfortable to carry even at its maximum load. With lighter loads, such as towards the end of a hike, the pack’s volume can be cinched down using the side and lid compression straps.
