Gossamer Gear The Two is an award-winning ultralight backpacking tent designed for hikers who demand minimal weight without sacrificing weather protection or livability. This updated version introduces key refinements that make the shelter drier, roomier, and more comfortable for everything from demanding long-distance treks to relaxed weekend trips.

Built for two-person use, The Two is aimed at backpackers who prioritize an exceptionally light pack while still expecting reliable storm protection and practical interior comfort. The tent is pitchable using trekking poles, eliminating the need for dedicated poles and significantly reducing overall carried weight, making it an ideal companion for ultralight and long-distance hiking.

The new ClearSkies™ fabric delivers enhanced protection

At the core of The Two is Gossamer Gear’s newly developed ClearSkies™ fabric. The shelter uses a 15 denier Robic nylon base reinforced with a 20 denier dope-dyed ripstop structure. A modern SIL/PU coating combines low weight, high durability, and excellent waterproof performance.

ClearSkies™ achieves a hydrostatic head rating of up to 4,923 mm, providing dependable protection even in heavy and prolonged rainfall. Compared to the previous fabric generation, the new material is 35% stronger in tensile strength and up to 2.35 times more waterproof.

The fabric is also PFAS-free, making it a more environmentally responsible choice for lightweight outdoor gear.

Improved ventilation and reduced condensation

As a single-wall shelter, ventilation plays a crucial role in comfort. The Two features redesigned peak ventilation vents that can be opened to promote efficient airflow during warm or humid nights. In windy conditions, these vents can be securely fastened, and during severe weather they can be fully closed using hook-and-loop closures.

This improved airflow helps reduce condensation buildup inside the shelter and enhances livability, especially on multi-day backcountry trips.

Surprisingly spacious for two people

Despite its ultralight construction, The Two offers generous usable space. The tent measures 213 cm in length, with a 122 cm width at the head end and 107 cm at the foot end, resulting in a total floor area of 2.42 m². The peak interior height reaches 124 cm, allowing most users to sit upright comfortably inside. A person around 183 cm tall can sit upright with ease in the main living area.

A new intuitive Fritsch Hitch tensioning system maximizes usable floor space and helps keep the tent walls away from occupants. The shelter can also be secured directly to trekking poles using dedicated attachment loops, reducing wind-induced movement and improving overall stability.

Two doors and two vestibules

Practicality is a priority in a two-person shelter. The Two includes two separate doors and two vestibules, giving each user their own entry point and dedicated storage space for gear. When in camp, vestibule doors can be opened individually or together.

New dual fastening snaps help keep doors securely positioned even in sudden gusts of wind. Inside the shelter, a mesh storage pocket keeps small items organized, and a clothesline allows wet gear to dry. Factory-taped seams ensure the tent is fully weatherproof without requiring additional sealing.

Easy pitching even on uneven terrain

The Two is designed with extensive adjustability to accommodate uneven campsites. It can be pitched securely on rough or sloped ground, and additional attachment points allow users to expand usable interior volume.

Reinforced anchor points improve long-term durability, while brightly colored and reflective guylines make the shelter easy to locate in low light. Reflective zipper pulls further enhance visibility at night.
