Kaira Litetrek is a lightweight and minimalist 3 mm thick closed-cell foam sleeping pad weighing just 100 grams. In warm weather and on particularly soft ground, you could actually sleep on it, while those hardened devotees of Spartan philosophy may find a wider range of uses. However, Litetrek really shines as an extra protective layer underneath an inflatable sleeping pad or on top of one, adding the pleasant feel of a foam pad.

Its usefulness extends well beyond sleeping, too. It works equally well for lounging around during breaks and at camp, or as a windscreen for a camping stove.

A lightweight and thin closed-cell foam pad is one of the most versatile pieces of gear you can take on a hike, even if it isn’t quite essential. It provides extra protection and insulation for your primary sleeping pad, but can also be put to many other useful purposes, such as:
