The Saariselkä–Sokosti hiking map covers one of Eastern Finland’s most stunning fell regions, including the central areas of Saariselkä and Urho Kekkonen National Park. With a scale of 1:50,000 (1 cm on the map equals 500 m in the terrain), it is ideal for all forms of outdoor activity and exploration, both in summer and winter.
In addition to the popular hiking routes around Saariselkä, Kakslauttanen, and Kiilopää, the map extends eastward to Sokosti—the highest fell in the region—and all the way to Finland’s eastern border. Nearly the entire Sompio Strict Nature Reserve is also featured, though movement there is permitted only along marked trails.
To the north, the map reaches the Raja-Jooseppi road, and along its eastern edge it follows the national border south past Vongoiva fell. In the southwest corner, the village of Vuotso and the road leading south of the Nattaset fells are also shown.
Based on topographic data from the National Land Survey of Finland and enriched with detailed hiking information, the map clearly marks routes, rest areas, wilderness huts, and service points.
Printed on lightweight, waterproof Tyvek material, it is exceptionally durable—resistant to folding, tearing, and wear. Even when wet, it dries quickly and remains easy to handle.
Originally published by Karttakeskus in 2022, this updated 2025 edition includes the latest verified route information, ensuring dependable navigation for every outdoor adventure in Saariselkä and Urho Kekkonen National Park.
