Especially in intermittent rain, the rain skirt is very effective as it can be easily taken off and put back on. The skirt ventilates nicely and is not stuffy.
The Northern Lite Ultralite Rain Skirt extends to the ankles or lower calves, depending on the user’s height. It is designed for easy movement and does not restrict your stride. Due to its length, the skirt rarely touches low vegetation, and its slick fabric won’t get caught on shrubs. Developed by Finnish thru-hikers.

Rain pants often stay in the backpack when a light drizzle starts on a hike because putting them on requires removing your shoes. Eventually, the drizzle turns into a downpour, soaking your legs. By then, it’s too late to put on rain pants, and you’ve carried them for nothing. The heaviest gear in your pack is the gear you don’t use!
The Rain Skirt Ultralite weighs just 75 grams and packs into its own pouch, forming a package the size of a small fist. It secures around the waist with an elastic cord.
