Northern Lites Tundra
A pound on your feet is like five pounds in your pack—especially in winter. Northern Lites makes ultra-light yet durable snowshoes in Colorado, and the Tundra is their largest model, crafted to excel in deep snow. It’s a perfect choice for heavier hikers or those carrying heavy loads on soft snow.
With an ultra-light weight of just 1.42 kg per pair, the 33-inch Tundra snowshoes are lighter than typical 22-inch deck snowshoes! Despite their size, Tundras feel remarkably natural to use thanks to their low weight.
The frame is made from tough 7075-T6 aluminum, and the deck features a military-grade COOLTHANE®-coated nylon mesh. A two-part crampon made from duraluminum is equipped with an antiball plate to prevent snow buildup on the crampon base.
For bindings, we chose the original Tru Trak, the lightest and most durable option proven by Northern Lites’ 30+ years of expertise. The Tru Trak design uses three flexible straps, making it foolproof and easily repairable. Flat Tru Trak bindings also mean these snowshoes pack efficiently outside your backpack or on a pulk, more compactly than almost any other model.
The Tundra model is recommended for:
- Deep, soft snow conditions
- Larger hikers
- Heavy hiker + heavy pack combinations in deep snow
Recommended load capacity: up to 124 kg.
Dimensions:
- Length: 33″ (84 cm)
- Width: 24 cm
- Maximum shoe size: EU 49
- Weight: 1,417 grams per pair
