The Sambob Octa Hoodie is, as the name suggests, a technical hoodie made from Teijin Octa fabric. It delivers a warmth-to-weight ratio comparable to Polartec Alpha Direct, but with a more durable outer face.
The Octa Hoodie works exceptionally well as a standalone layer for hiking in mild to cool conditions. It also functions perfectly as a midlayer, camp shirt, or sleep layer. The inside features brushed fleece, making it comfortable directly against the skin, while the outer surface has a flat, mesh-like structure. Compared to Alpha Direct, Octa is less prone to snagging.
Sambob Octa Hoodie
The Sambob Octa Hoodie, made from Teijin Octa fabric, is a response to the common drawback of garments made from Polartec Alpha Direct, namely their tendency to snag easily on branches and other obstacles. Octa offers nearly the same warmth-to-weight performance, but its outer face is flat rather than fluffy, making it significantly less prone to snagging. The inside features brushed fleece, which feels comfortable directly against the skin.
The fabric is extremely lightweight and highly breathable. In windy conditions, it pairs best with a lightweight wind shell. In calmer weather, the Octa Hoodie works excellently as a standalone layer even in warm conditions and transitions into a perfect extra layer for camp once temperatures drop in the evening. Due to its low weight, the fabric is semi-transparent and dries very quickly.
