Sawyer Squeeze
The Sawyer Squeeze is a reliable water filter with an excellent flow rate. It has been a trusted classic among long-distance hikers for many years. The Sawyer Squeeze water filter can be directly attached to the squeeze pouch, allowing you to drink directly through the pop-up spout (squirting is also possible), or it can be connected to a standard soda bottle. The Sawyer Squeeze uses a 0.1-micron hollow fiber membrane filter.
How to use the water filter: Fill the squeeze pouch or a threaded recycling bottle with water from a river, stream, or lake. Screw the water filter onto the pouch and squeeze the water through the filter into your drinking bottle or another container, or drink directly through the pop-up cap.
You can also use the filter with a regular water bottle. Simply attach the Sawyer Squeeze directly to a threaded soda bottle. We recommend soft plastic bottles, such as 0.5–1.5 liter spring water bottles.

Which Sawyer model is best for me? Choose the Micro Squeeze if you want an ultra-lightweight filter for occasional use. Choose the Squeeze if you want a faster flow rate and less backflushing. The Squeeze is also the best option for groups of hikers and is the most reliable filter for long hikes. Sawyer also offers a Mini filter, but we haven’t included it in our selection due to its significantly lower flow rate.
Note: The Sawyer water filter can only withstand freezing if it has not been used. Once used, it is not frost-resistant, and the warranty does not cover frost damage. In winter conditions, it’s advisable to carry the filter in an inside pocket to prevent damage. At night, place it in your sleeping bag.
