Svala Airbase Pants are a long-leg base layer classic that elevates comfort and performance to a whole new level. Once you experience Airbase, returning to traditional base layers is hard. Designed and manufactured in Finland, these pants are built to withstand heavy use and perform reliably in all conditions, year-round.

The unique, highly elastic Airbase mesh traps air within its loops and adapts to your body temperature and activity level. The result is a natural temperature-balancing effect: cooling when it’s warm and insulating when it’s cold. The material performs exceptionally well during intense activity and in cool conditions, even down to approximately -15 °C on its own. In harsher cold, Airbase pairs perfectly under a warmer mid-layer, such as Svala’s merino wool base layers.

Polypropylene moves moisture efficiently away from the skin, keeping you dry and comfortable throughout long periods of wear. Silver-ionized, antibacterial fibers inhibit bacterial growth and odors. Because the treatment is embedded into the fiber during manufacturing, these properties last for the life of the garment. Airbase requires minimal washing and can often be refreshed simply by airing it out.

The close-fitting, body-contouring design provides excellent freedom of movement. A comfortable elastic waistband, long legs, and fitted ankle cuffs keep the pants in place. The crotch area is made from smooth knit, and all seams are flatlock, ensuring no chafing or pressure points—even during extended wear.

Care instructions
Wash at 60 °C, preferably in a laundry bag to protect the mesh knit. Airing between uses can extend the time between washes.
