X-Fire 14

The X-Fire 14 is a wood stove that packs flat to the size of an A4 sheet yet gives you a generous burn chamber. For the backpacker it means a light stove that boils water faster than a campfire and holds enough twigs that the fire won’t die out halfway through the boil.

The stove is made of three stainless steel wall panels that join together into a cylinder, plus a base and two pot supports. The base keeps the burning material off the ground and acts as a grate that improves airflow. The supports hold your pot, and a larger pot or frying pan can sit directly on top of the stove. Flames and radiant heat are concentrated on the bottom of the pot, so the handle stays cooler than over a campfire.

The X-Fire 14 is built to take a beating: you can run the fire hot enough to make the steel glow. Besides boiling water, it works as a small grill for sausages and pan meals.

The whole X-Fire series is made in Germany.

Note: The stove is not insulated from the ground. Use an aluminium pie dish or similar to insulate it from the ground. Always use the stove in line with local regulations and never during a forest fire warning.
