Designed from the ground up for minimal weight, simplicity, and all-weather performance, the X-Mid Pro 2 eliminates common pitfalls found in backpacking tents, such as complex setup, mandatory guylines, obstructive trekking poles, and insufficient interior height.

User-Friendly Design

Developed in demanding conditions that require peak functionality and reliability, the X-Mid design philosophy carries over seamlessly to the X-Mid Pro 2.

This tent is exceptionally easy to pitch, requiring only four stakes. The trekking poles are positioned to avoid blocking entryways, while the taut, tensioned floor prevents sagging or wrinkling. One-handed zipper operation, convenient interior pockets, and magnetic door toggles further enhance usability, making the tent effortless to open and close.

Despite being a two-person tent, the X-Mid Pro 2 packs down smaller than any other DCF tent in its class, measuring just 25 x 12 cm. Its compact size allows for efficient horizontal storage in a backpack.

Stormproof Construction

The X-Mid Pro 2 is not only spacious but also built to withstand extreme weather. Constructed from strong and durable DCF fabric, its sloped walls are strategically angled to deflect wind. The tent floor is made from silnylon for its balance of durability and packability.

Unlike many ultralight tents that compromise on weather protection to save weight, the X-Mid Pro 2 features a full-coverage fly that effectively blocks drafts and splashes while offering the flexibility to be raised for increased ventilation. Unique features uncommon in this weight class include peak vents to reduce condensation, zippered doors for added stability, and multiple storm-ready attachment points. The tent provides two sheltered entrances and the option to secure additional guylines for enhanced wind resistance, accommodating up to 12 stakes for superior stability in severe storms.

The X-Mid Pro 2 is the result of cutting-edge design and top-tier quality. Manufactured in the world’s most experienced DCF tent factory, it utilizes only premium materials, such as Dyneema® Composite Fabrics.

The tent is constructed using a heat-bonded seam technique, producing stronger and cleaner seams that maintain their integrity in extreme temperatures better than traditional sewn or taped alternatives. Additionally, Durston employs a unique pre-treatment process for DCF, enhancing its long-term stability and preventing zipper wave. Reinforcement points prevent excessive fabric stress, reducing premature wear and extending the tent’s lifespan.

Size & Capacity

The X-Mid Pro 2 is roomier than most of its competitors, featuring an interior length of 269 cm—approximately 15 cm longer than similar models. Its unique layout, where occupants sleep at a 20-degree angle relative to the fly, maximizes usable space. The floor remains 229 cm long, but the extended fly increases headroom at both ends.

For two people, the tent comfortably accommodates individuals up to 193 cm tall. However, comfort levels may vary based on sleeping pad thickness, pillow size, sleeping bag bulk, and personal space preferences. Taller individuals (up to 198 cm or more) may still find it suitable with compact gear, while those around 183 cm will have ample room. If two people sleep parallel to each other, the taller person should sleep at the steeper end of the tent for more headroom.

For solo use, the tent’s parallelogram-shaped floor allows a diagonal sleeping arrangement, accommodating users up to 213 cm tall. Those needing even more space may opt for the larger X-Mid Pro 2+ model, which offers steeper end walls and additional usable length.
