Coghlan’s Snapfold™ Coffee Dripper

Coghlan’s Snapfold™ Coffee Dripper is a very lightweight and compact “pour over” coffee maker for camping and other outdoor use. It weighs just 29 grams and packs down to a 2 mm thin sheet. It uses standard 1×4 filter bags, which are known to be readily available. The best fit however is accomplished with cone shaped filters such as Hario V60 in size 02. Coghlan’sSnapfold™ Coffee Dripper is suitable for mugs of many sizes thanks to its base disc.

For brewing, you will need Coghlan’s Snapfold™ Coffee Dripper, filters, a means of heating water, a pot, a mug and of course coffee suitable for the filter coffee maker. Heat the water in your pot. You can heat a little extra water and pour it first through the filter placed in the dripper into the mug to moisten the filter and warm the mug. Then pour the coffee into the filter, place Coghlan’s Snapfold™ Coffee Dripper over your mug, and pour hot water over the coffee in two or three batches. While the temptation to hide the used coffee grounds under a rock is substantial, remember that they don’t belong in the wilderness and pack them in your backpack with the rest of the trash.
