Nitecore NB10000 Gen 2 hiking power bank

As you might have guessed from its name Nitecore NB10000 has 10 000 mAh of capacity but weighs only 150 grams which makes it a tempting choice for the weight conscious backpacker. The light weight is enabled by NB10000’s carbon fiber reinforced frame which also provides plenty of structural strength and impact resistance. Energy density is remarkably high at 257 mWh/g.

Nitecore NB10000 has both USB-C and USB-A ports. USB-C port supports Quick Charging (QC) 3.0 battery charging protocol which enables faster recharging times. For smaller devices, such as smart watches, there’s a low current charging option. Because NB10000’s capacity is below 100 Wh you can carry it with you on an airplane.

The power bank has a blue LED charge indicator. You don’t need to worry about humid conditions because of the IPX5 rating. For safety NB10000 has safeguards for overcurrent, short-circuit, over-discharge, overcharge, overvoltage and thermal protection.

Gen 2 differences compared to the old NB10000: USB-C output increased 18W -> 20W. Empty space between the USB ports has been reduced, so when pushing in the cable, the ports are more solid. The ports are also marked with yellow color, so you immediately spot them. The lights indicating the state of charge are more clear, and the button has been improved.
